Welcome to the Liberty Hounds Golf Club…we are group of men who meet annually for an exclusive guys golf retreat. This group was established in 2005 with six successful outings (2006 – 2011) completed (5 in Myrtle Beach and 1 in North Carolina).

Our name “Liberty Hounds” derived from the fact that the group’s founding members were ex-Navy and the sensation of arriving on-site to the outing each year in MB is very similar to the experience of hitting port during a Med-Cruise…making us all “Liberty Risks”!

Applicants can join by member referral [automatic membership] or a “request for membership” can be submitted which will be voted on during our membership communications, and we now represent all of North America as we have members in both Canada and the United States.
We have yet to decline a request…so all golfers encouraged…regardless of handicap.

Our muster sheet consists of approximately 20+ players and growing each year, and our home port has been identified as Myrtle Beach due to their packages available.
Although the majority of our group are golfers, we also accomodate non-golfers for those who prefer fishing or site-seeing over golf, and then everyone meets up in the evening hours for combined group activities.

Our golf/condo packages average $300/person [4-nights condo & 3-days golf] and will vary by the lodging and course selections each year which will be determined during vendor negotiations.
Membership is free…but donations are accepted.
Each year we try to play three new courses and have completed 15 different courses since inception, but consideration for a “repeat” will be given if a group-favorite has been identified.
All arrangements are made through our Event Coordinator who does the leg work for everything except getting you down there.

WHAT IS A LIBERTY HOUND?
Liberty:
Free time away from work or the ship, usually after working hours or in port. Differs from leave in that you must stay close to your home station and it is generally much shorter.
Liberty Boat:
Boat assigned to transfer sailors/marines to and from their ship when in a port that requires the ship to drop anchor instead of pulling pier side. Trips to the beach are generally low key. Trips back to the ship in the wee hours of the night are usually very entertaining.
Liberty Hound:
A sailor/marine who loves liberty more than anything else.
Liberty Risk:
A sailor/marine who loves liberty a little too much. So much so that he puts himself in danger by drinking too much, getting into fights, or pissing off the locals.
